In the great commission scripture (Matt 28:18-20), Jesus tells his team to go and make disciples. The challenge becomes defining what a disciple is. How do we no when we've actually made a disciple? What does that look like? How do I know they are trained properly. At what point do I know I've actually made a disciple?
Getting a clear definition of a disciple must be the starting point. If we don't clearly understand the target we are shooting for, our chances of hitting the bullseye and having success are severely diminished.
It is not uncommon in collaborating with our clients to see this fundamental challenge limiting their effectiveness. We hear many of the same Christian phrases used to define a disciple in our initial discussions. Most do a fairly good job of identifying some of the aspects of a disciple, but unfortunately, all too often are incomplete.
God's word doesn't give us a specific checklist to work from when building disciples. So, knowing when we have been successful in training up others can be hard to measure. How long does it take? How do we know when we've effectively completed the process? Are those I've trained able to be released now? Are they ready to train others? Is what we're currently doing really producing disciples who make other disciples?
At CLC, we help you clearly define discipleship, assess your challenges, provide you and your team a clearly defined discipleship pathway to change lives and build leaders. We resource you with tools to accomplish your vision and support you through the entire process.
